T9 Success Story

~ written by Callum Hosier

Our amazing Turnstyles T9 Elite team clinched the Watford FC CSE Trust Football Festival trophy after not one, but two dramatic penalty shoot-outs on their way to victory.

The boys had a mixed bag of results on their way to the final, claiming a 1-0 victory in their first match, before drawing one and losing the next two.

However, the T9 Elites had done enough to get through to the knockout stages, where they managed to overcome one of the teams they had lost too on route to the semi-final in a nerve-racking penalty shoot-out.

In the final, the two teams could not be separated after normal time meaning another tense penalty shoot-out for the Turnstyles players, coaches and parents.

The shootout came down to a sudden-death affair with both teams equally scoring and missing until the 9th penalty when the opposition shot was saved by the T9 Elite goalkeeper Duygu.

The stage was set. All we had to do was score and the tournament was ours. Fabian stepped up for the T9’s and buried his penalty off the inside of the post and in to earn Turnstyles the victory!
