Turnstyles at Move IT 2016 | Our first year at this inspirational Dance event.
Earlier in 2016, Turnstyles Creative Arts were at MOVE IT for the first time. MOVE IT is “the UK’s biggest annual dance event taking place at ExCel London. Dancers of all levels come together in one gigantic celebration of all things dance”.
It was a fantastic opportunity to meet lots of big, well-established names, as well as speak to many new upcoming names in the World of Dance.
In the lead up to the event, we encouraged our young Turnstylers to GET CREATIVE and asked them why they LOVE TURNSTYLES, with a chance to win FREE tickets to join us over the weekend. We wanted a chance to inspire these young talents even more on their Dance Journey with us at Turnstyles, and for them to see firsthand just how much Dance makes an impact in the UK. We were inundated with brilliant entries that made us smile, laugh and cry! Some truly beautiful responses that were expressed in such an honest, genuine manner. It really brought home that all the work we are doing with our talented Turnstylers is making a difference and was very heart warming for all at Turnstyles HQ.
The winning children and their families were lucky enough to see performances by Flawless, Darcey Bussell, Jason Samuels Smith and Alleyne Dance, to name a few. It was an incredibly inspirational weekend for the children and our own Staff. The competition winners included;
- Kayley – Saturday Academy Turnstyler – who drew an imaginative picture of dancer displaying the similarities and difference in Ballet and Street Dance technique. Kayley participates in weekly Street Dance and Ballet classes with us, and shows lots of skill at moving between these two genres.
- Mischa – School Club Turnstyler – who wrote and sang a beautiful song to the tune of Shawn Mendes “Stitches”. With lines like “it helps me express my life” and “you will see lots of big smiles”, it was a definite winner to us!
- Ria and Hannah – School Club Turnstylers – who expressed that our Turnstyles Dance classes bring them together and makes them happy, as well as showcasing their own choreography showing this enthusiasm and love for Dance.
- Victoria – Saturday Academy Turnstyler – who drew an adorable picture of her performing in a Ballet performance, centre stage. Victoria’s confidence has grown immensely since attending our Saturday Academy and now performs will a calm, graceful manner at our Academy shows.
A special thanks to our dedicated team who made the weekend go so smoothly and fun from start to end. We were dazzled by the Freestyle stage, met our idols and made so many fantastic links for future projects here at Turnstyles.
Thoughts are now on MOVE IT 2017, for 2017 is just around the corner. We look forward to the potential of being part of such an incredible event for the second year in a room. For more info – http://www.moveitdance.co.uk
