The History Of Betis

                                                                                              Betis Beginnings

Real Betis Balompie ,  the only team in Spain with the trademark ending “Balompie”,  simply meaning “football”. From 1907 Betis have been representing the Andalusian people in the notorious green and white. In 1935 after just 28 years of existence, Los Verdiblancos prospered to their first and only La Liga title after promotion from the second tier of Spanish football just Three years prior to  promotion. However tragedy struck for Betis no leagues were held during 1936-1939 ,due to the Spanish civil war, Betis went into financial decline ,When la Liga returned In the 1939-1940  season , 5 years from the title winning season, Real Betis were  relegated from la Liga.

                                                                                    THE BETIS FAITHFUL

After  the relegation Betis were back to la Liga for the 1942-43 season , however financial problems showed and Betis were once again relegated from la Liga and in 1947 Betis were relegated to the third tier of Spanish football. Despite the period of downfall , Betis were still recognized for their; passionate, dedicated and loud fans known as the “green march” , in 1954 Balompie returned to the second tier of Spanish football.

After club chairman Manuel Ruiz Rodríguez stepped down in 1955 he was replaced by Benito Villamarin who purchased  the estadio Benito Villamarin which would mark the opening of a fortress for Betis , Villamarin helped betis return to la liga and in the 1963-1964 season record  3rd place finish in the La Liga season. After a decade of success Villamarin stepped down as club chairman in 1965.

                                                                                                   Campeones

After years of ups and downs after Villamarin’s departure in 1977 Betis had their shot at cup for the first time they came up against the Basque giants Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final. With the score held at 2-2 the game went to penalties, with goalkeeper Jose Ramon Esnaola the hero as Betis won 8-7 on pens to win the clubs first ever Copa Del Rey.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: Turnstyles Youth Football Academy

Turnstyles Training Returns in Enfield

After many long and dark wintery months our children have finally been allowed back to football training and games in Enfield this spring. We have been lucky to celebrate our ten year anniversary of the club running in Enfield and have promised our young people that they will have a bright future of football ahead with the club.

The coronavirus has impacted us all in different ways and for our young players, it has been that they have lost their favourite sport and passion and have been forced to find replacements including home-schooling and indoor fitness classes etc.

We know for others the coronavirus has been even more detrimental to their lives and we empathise with those in such positions.

Sport is important for us all and contributes to many different aspects of our social lives, from taking part to spectating with friends and family. A football club such as Turnstyles Football Academy is fundamental to offering this to children, adults and the elderly within our community. We welcome new members to join us and also welcome feedback, sponsors and support to collaborate with us to enhance our and their future, and current endeavours.

In closing, reopening the football club has been such a blessing for our players, parents and club members and we thank you for your continued support.

Stay safe and see you in training.

Team Turnstyles.

How to become a black belt at football?

Special Football Training for Kids Ages 5 – 9

Did you know? Studying martial arts is known to greatly improve the lives of children living with ADHD. Kids who lack focus, have excess energy and tend to act out learn to channel those qualities into martial arts training.

We have decided to incorporate the power of martial discipline in to our football training for kids in London Enfield. Using a very similar colour grading scheme and some lovely football kit designs we have fused the ancient Chinese art of Karate and the modern game of Football all in to one child.

Why we think this will be a huge success?

It is hard to imagine that as parents, once upon a time we were children also, what is even hard to do is to remember exactly what the standard of coaching was like on those wet and windy weekends. Once thing that is hard to forget however are those screaming, shouting, slating parents every time we made a mistake.

Welcome to the Turnstyles Colour League where children are protected from all the vocal abuse which is mostly proverbial nonsense coming out of frustrated parents living vicariously through their children, we have made the beautiful game beautiful again in true Turnstyles fashion.

With a sight to build and grow grassroots football we encourage players to come and try out this wonderful new concept.

The goal of the Turnstyles Colour League is to allow young players to enjoy the game without the extra pressures of external football leagues. We want players to have more involvement in the game, more touches on the ball in a bright and colourful environment – with a purpose.

Intro to the Ethos

The way this league works is truly unique in football (for children ages 5 – 9) as it uses the proven system of martial arts to help guide and grade the players through their own personal development at their own pace.

The correct grading pattern is as follows; White | Yellow | Green | Blue | Red | Black

Each player will play in a real kit to represent their current level, we have already anticipated that their will be occasions where a lower graded teams beats a higher graded team, this is super! Go the underdog.

How it works

So, in short… Players will start off as a White Belt and will be graded at regular intervals with a goal to achieve the Black Belt. The FA qualified Turnstyles Academy Coaches will guide your child all the way through until they reach their own personal GOALS.

Format

4v4 (4 players on each team) matches with a special samba goal to allow for better accuracy when they graduate to the big league aged 9+.

There will be one Coach / Referee per pitch ensuring the children receive constant and ongoing feedback / coaching.

At the end of each game every player will receive a debrief from the Coach recapping what the players have learned in the 2 hour long lesson.

The top player of the month will receive a medal that they will keep for the entire month and return to the manager to allow another child the chance to win the MOTM award.
