Turnstyles partners with TasteBudds to give you the ‘Turnstyles Kitchen’

The world of football has changed and nutrition now plays a key role in helping the very best players reach the top of their game.

Unfortunately, there has been little effort to filter this information down to grass roots football and to the aspiring players that would benefit from this level of education.

Thats why Turnstyles has teamed up with TasteBudds to give the next generation of footballers some nifty tricks on how to prepare the right food for footy.

TasteBudds run healthy cookery workshops for children of all ages and these workshops guide children through the creation of our original recipes, as well as teaching children the fundamentals of nutrition and why the ingredients we use are so beneficial for them.

Our partnership will come together in the form of the ‘Turnstyles Kitchen’, hosted by our very own presenter, the wonderful Dior. Each week Mathew from TasteBudds will make a yummy, football related recipe for you to try at home. You will be able to find the recipes across our social media platforms such as Youtube, Facebook and Twitter!

Our aim is to help educate our players about how a nutritious diet and what they do off the pitch, can dramatically improve their performance on the pitch with the help of TasteBudds.

The Turnstyles Kitchen, is a fantastic opportunity to learn about what foods are best to have the evening before a match, what snacks will give you that extra bit of fuel just before a game, and what foods create the optimum level of recovery to keep you feeling fresh and prevent any injuries.

Our recipes range from Fatigue Fighting Berry Smoothies, to hearty meals such as Pan-Fried Salmon with a Mango Salsa Rice Salad and even treats to celebrate a win like our Sweet Potato Brownies or our Lemon and Raspberry Muffins.

Through teaching Turnstyles kids a catalogue of our delicious and nutritious recipes and developing their knowledge about how certain foods impact their physical and mental well –being, we firmly believe that we can take their football to the next level and give them the upper hand whether it be against a different club or fighting for their position in a team.

The very latest Turnstyles Nike kit has reverted back to the original colour scheme, with a yellow shirt with white shorts and socks. We have also brought back the ‘BLACK OUT’ Turnstyles badge to go on this incredible new kit.

As we grow Turnstyles and move the academy forwards, we must ensure everyone is moving with us. So, as of 2017, ALL existing Turnstyles players must be training in a Turnstyles Kit.

How can I play football when my pitch is waterlogged?

There is no doubt, winter is here.

Storms across the south have caused winds of up to 85mph, torrential rain and flood warnings. Sadly, this means waterlogged pitches and a lack of football matches for our young players.

At Turnstyles, we hate the fact that winter has such a big part to play in our children’s football. So instead of just letting mother nature have her way and stop us playing, we have come up with an idea to give every young player the chance to keep sharp and get some game time!

To ensure young football players across London have the chance to play and not be hindered by wet and windy conditions, frozen pitches and swimming pool sized puddles, we have put together our new Indoor Street Soccer League.

What is the Indoor Street Soccer League?

The Indoor Street Soccer League is a cool new way to play football, especially during the winter months.

Every Wednesday evening, young players can come down and play in fast-paced, small-sided matches to keep them focused and on the ball when the poor conditions outside may mean no league matches for a few weeks.

The matches are 5 versus 5 and are played with a futsal ball. The aim of the session is to get kids playing and raising awareness of the benefits of futsal to young football players, such as increased technical ability.

Where can I find the Indoor Street Soccer League?

This session takes place every Wednesday in the sports hall at Enfield Grammar School, right in the heart of Enfield Town.

Address: Market Place, Middlesex EN2 6LN.

Who is the class for?

The Indoor Street Soccer League is aimed at any young footballer who wants to simply play matches, develop their technical ability and have fun.

The session is currently aimed at children aged 9-13 years old but this is only the start and there are plans for expansion.

How much does it cost?

As our aim is to simply get as many young players playing as we can, the session will cost just £20 per month.

Interested? Great stuff! Simply follow this link to book your place.

If you are looking for further coaching, we also offer children’s football classes in Enfield that are focused on developing talented young players.

Our Brighton based academy can be found at the Brighton Hove and Sussex Sixth Form (BHASVIC) which is located right in the very heart of Sussex.

Thanks to the help and organisation of one of our brilliant parents, Bryan Bayram, our under 8’s, or T8’s as we like to call them, had the chance to play in their very first tournament last month.

They had an amazing time and managed to put all the training they have had over the past year into their first real match situation.

Bryan is hoping to organise another tournament to give even more of our Turnstyles players the chance to play against other teams from across Brighton and Sussex.
